About me
I grew up surrounded by type gauges and open Photoshop files. Both my parents are layout designers — editorial ones — so before I knew what design was, I already knew what it felt like.
My first love was books as objects. I wanted to illustrate covers, make things people would pick up and hold. That's what led me to graphic design. But then, somewhere in my degree, I wrote my first HTML page — just "hello world" on a coloured background — and it felt like magic. I've been chasing that feeling ever since.
I've been lucky enough to work in web design almost from the very beginning of my career. I still find JavaScript animations slightly miraculous. What I love most about web design is this: a website can communicate something as complex and intangible as a company's culture — through layout, colour, motion, the way a page feels to navigate. That intersection of the visual and the experiential is where I want to be.
When I'm not designing, I draw. Portraits, mostly — ink on paper, the slow kind. Usually my cats.
